ONE OF OUR OWN CARRIES OLYMPIC TORCH IN WINNIPEG - Thousands of Winnipeggers showed that Canadian pride is alive and kicking in the Prairie city, as they came out in droves Tuesday night to catch a glimpse of the Olympic flame.  Neither the 10-minute delay, nor the -20 C weather, could chill the enthusiasm of those waiting at The Forks, as people were packed elbow-to-elbow, waving Canadian flags, chanting and cheering.  Manitoba Power Wheelchair Hockey Association player Derek Mclennan got his moment to carry the torch in front of the Manitoba Legislature.  A past player Ian Bell also got a chance to carry the torch earlier in the relay.  The Olympic flame will pass through more than 1,000 Canadian communities, before arriving at Vancouver’s BC Place to light the Olympic Cauldron and open the 2010 Winter Games on Feb. 12, 2010. Canada’s 2010 Olympic torch relay will be the longest in history contained within the host country.
